From web-series to films, we have been seeing a lot of content based on the global pandemic. The Amazon Original movie Unpaused, the teaser of which was released on Thursday, is set in the period when India was slowly opening up and acclimatizing to the new normal.
The one-minute teaser begins with a voiceover that declares that a nationwide curfew has been imposed. Apart from a glimpse at a large number of characters and their individual methods of coping with the situation, we don't learn much in terms of the plot. From the teaser, it looks the film seems to be a dramedy with a message about maintaining a positive outlook towards life.
Unpaused boasts of a strong ensemble cast comprising Gulshan Devaiah, Lillete Dubey, Richa Chadha, Saiyami Kher, Sumeet Vyas, Ratna Pathak Shah, Abhishek Banerjee and Rinku Rajguru.
The anthology features stories by five directors — Nikkhil Advani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Nitya Mehra, Avinash Arun, and Raj and DK, the last two of which, known for the Amazon series The Family Man (2019) and Go Goa Gone (2013), have helmed the short Glitch with Devaiah and Kher.
Chatterjee has teamed up with Rajguru and Dubey for the short Rat-A-Tat, while Batla House (2019) director Advani has directed Chadha and Vyas in Apartment.
Avinash Arun, who shot and co-directed Paatal Lok (2020) has directed Vishaanu featuring Banerjee, who played the dreaded criminal Hathoda Tyagi in the acclaimed series. The trailer of Unpaused will be released on 8 December.
Unpaused will be out on 18 December on Amazon Prime Video.
