The second song from Indoo Ki Jawani featuring Kiara Advani and Aditya Seal is a tribute to the golden era of Hindi film music. The song, composed by Rochak Kohli, traces the various changes and trends in the genre from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The song starts with the couple sitting in front of the television imagining themselves in various iconic Hindi film scenarios. In the song, the couple appear in the avatar of characters of the films Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Namak Halaal (1982) and Rangeela (1995), among others .
Kohli very smartly highlights the salient features of the music of each era. From the overtly romantic melodies of the 1960s to pulsating disco numbers of the 1980s to the innovations introduced in the 1990s by AR Rahman, Kohli has tried to incorporate every change Hindi film music went through in a span of forty years.
The peppy retro track has been sung by Benny Dayal and Neeti Mohan and both singers display versatility in order to do justice to each era.
The song's lyrics have been written by Gurpreet Saini and Gautam G Sharma.
Indoo Ki Jawani has been directed by Abir Sengupta. The film has been produced by T Series and Emmay Entertainment and will be released in theatres on 11 December.
