Quite a few Hindi and Hollywood movies have been released in India since November, when theatres were reopened after a prolonged COVID-19-induced lockdown. But this period has seen the theatrical release of just a single Marathi movie, Vajvuya Band Baja (2020).

Amol Bhave’s Peter will be the second film on this minuscule list. The film, which will be released in theatres across Maharashtra on 22 January 2021, features Prem Borhade, Manisha Bhor, Amol Pansare, Vinietaa Sancheti, Prameya Wable and Siddheshwar Siddhesh.

Peter is the story of a 10-year-old boy Dhanya, who is also known as Peter and Spider-Man, and his goat kid. The people of the village where Dhanya stays are frantically looking for a goat to sacrifice for a ritual so that Dhanya’s uncle can become a father.

They decide to raise a goat for five or six months and then sacrifice it. However, in this period, Dhanya and the kid get attached to each other. Dhanya’s mother gets worried about his attachment as the day of the animal’s sacrifice draws near.

Bhave has also written the screenplay and produced the movie along with Deepankar Ramteke and Rohandeep Singh. Before this movie, Bhave helmed projects like Uchala Re Uchala (2012), Veerat Veer Maratha (2015), Journey Premachi (2017) and Patla Tar Ghya (2019).
