Veteran cinematographer Ishwar Bidri on Sunday died of health complications that followed a series of cardiac arrests. He was 87 and is survived by his wife and son, Sanjeev.
On 20 December, Bidri had gone with his family to attend a wedding in Belgaum, Karnataka, where he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Sanjeev told the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), “He experienced a cardiac arrest at the function. We immediately rushed him to KLES Hospital. He suffered another cardiac arrest there and, given his age, this led to multiple issues. He passed away at 9.50 am.”
Bidri was active from the 1980s till the mid-2000s, working mostly with directors JP Dutta and Rajkumar Santoshi. He collaborated with Dutta in Ghulami (1985), Yateem (1988), Batwara (1989), Hathyar (1989) and Border (1997).
Under Santoshi, he shot Damini (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and Ghatak (1996). Some of his other well-known films include Vansh (1992), Aurat Aurat Aurat (1996), Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999), Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke (2000), Farz (2001) and Andaaz (2003).
