Actor Anil Nedumangad, who made his mark in films like Ayyapanum Koshiyum (2020), died in a drowning accident yesterday in Kerala. He was 48.
Nedumangad was in the state's Thodupuzha region shooting for the film Peace alongside Joju George. Reports said the actor and his friends decided to visit the Malankara dam on the Thodupuzha river during a break in the shooting schedule.
However, Nedumangad accidentally strayed into a deeper region of the swimming area and was reportedly pulled down by forceful currents. His friends launched a search-and-rescue effort with the police and he was found six hours later and rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Nedumangad is known for his roles in films like Njan Steve Lopez (2014), Kammatipaadam (2016), Porinju Mariam Jose (2019) and, recently, Ayyapanum Koshiyum (2020).
Upon hearing the news, Ayyapanum Koshiyum co-star Prithiviraj Sukumaran offered his condolences.
