Kaagaz trailer: Pankaj Tripathi struggles to prove his existence in this intriguing satire

Directed by Satish Kaushik, the dark comedy is based on the true story of a living man who was declared legally dead.

When a piece of paper declares that he is dead, a simple member of a rustic brass band must rise to the occasion to prove the document otherwise. Satish Kaushik’s film features a perfectly cast Pankaj Tripathi as a villager, Bharatlal, who rages up against the system to assert his existence.

Bharatlal is pitied by all for the unfortunate mistake, yet none come to his rescue. He runs from pillar to post trying to clear his name, and then has to go public to plead his case.

Produced by Salman Khan’s production house, Kaagaz is based on a true story of a living man from Bihar who was declared legally dead on official papers. The writer-director has been cast as a lawyer who takes up Bharatlal’s case.

Monal Gajjar and Amar Upadhyay also feature in Kaagaz, which will have its digital premiere on 7 January 2021 on Zee5.
