Actress Anamica Kadamb, who was seen in the award-winning film Binnu ka Sapna (2018), has joined the cast of the social drama Andaman alongside Sanjay Mishra, Rajesh Tailang and newcomer Anand Raaj.
Directed by film publicist-turned-filmmaker Smita Singh, Andaman revolves around a quarantine centre in an impoverished village.
Recounting her experience working on the project, Kadamb said, "Smita is very close to me. I have known her for the past seven years. When she told me that she was directing a film, I was ready to work with her. It was like a home project for me. It was amazing to work with everyone."
Kadamb plays an aspiring civil servant, Neha, who cracks her exam but couldn’t make a breakthrough in a relationship. "Neha is in love with Anand, the protagonist, and both dream of becoming IAS [Indian Administrative Service] officers but somehow her boyfriend, who is more intelligent than her, can’t clear the exam even in his third attempt. So they get separated. This is also the first feature film based on COVID-19 and quarantine centre," she said.
Kadamb was excited to share screen space with veteran actors Rajesh and Tailang. "We were on the set after so long, so that was an amazing feeling. Rajesh Tailang sir is such an inspiring and wonderful actor but the best part about him is that he also has a wonderful heart. I am a big fan of his. His appearance in the film took it to the next level. When I met Anand Raaj for the first time I was a little nervous. But he is a very calm and focused person. I never felt like I was working with him for the first time," she said.
Produced by 8 Pillars Motion Pictures, the film has been written by Raaj.
