Veteran actor Sunny Deol has tested positive for COVID-19. He is asymptomatic.

The news was shared by Deol himself on Twitter on Wednesday.

“I tested myself for coronavirus and the result has come out positive. I am under quarantine currently and my health is fine. I request all those who came in contact with me recently to quarantine themselves and get tested,” he tweeted.

Deol, a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), represents the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab.

After undergoing shoulder surgery in Mumbai recently, the actor was spending time in Manali and got himself tested before returning to the city.

The news of Deol testing positive for COVID-19 came a day after the announcement of the sequel to his family drama Apne (2007). The film will again see him alongside his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, and brother Bobby Deol. This time around, his son Karan Deol is an additional cast member. Like the first film, Apne 2 will also be directed by Anil Sharma.
