Coronavirus update: Film producer Parvesh Mehra dies of COVID-19


Mehra was admitted to the intensive-care unit in Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai three weeks ago.

Renowned film producer Parvesh C Mehra died yesterday in Mumbai after a battle with COVID-19. He was 71.

Mehra battled the SARS-CoV-2 novel coronavirus for almost a month before succumbing. He died at 4pm at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital.

Parvesh Mehra was the eldest son of the late producer FC Mehra and entered the film business by assisting his father from a young age. Later he got into the production business himself and produced a string of films in the 1980s and 1990s. The better known ones among them were Ashanti (1982), Jaal (1986), Pyar Ke Do Pal (1986), Mujrim (1989), Shikari (1991), Chamatkar (1992), Ram-Jaane (1995) and Qila (1998). The films he produced were directed by his brothers Umesh and Rajiv.

Parvesh Mehra is survived by his son and daughter, an older sister and brothers Umesh, Rajesh and Rajiv.
