Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi trailer: Tragedy turns into a large family gathering unraveling the frictions amongst the family members

The film which marks actress Seema Pahwa's directorial debut will be hitting the theatres on 1 January 2021

Actress Seema Pahwa's much-awaited directorial debut Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi has finally got a release date. The film will now be released across the country in the new year.

The makers, Jio Studios and Drishyam Films, announced the release date when launching a trailer for the film. The dramedy revolves around the Bhargavas, a middle-class North Indian family, who come together for 13 days to perform the tehrvi (thirteenth day rites) after the head of the family dies. The director's own maiden surname was Bhargava.

The film features an ensemble cast that includes Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Konkona Sensharma, Parambrata Chatterjee, Vinay Pathak, Vikrant Massey and Manoj Pahwa.

After the sudden death of patriarch Ram Prasad Bhargava (Shah), his five children and their families collect after several years under one roof at their ancestral home for the traditional rituals and to comfort his widow Savitri (Supriya Pathak). The accidental death results in a large family gathering and, slowly, past grievances begin to resurface and friction grows.

Ram Prasad Ki Tehrvi was part of the official selection for the India Gold section at the 21st MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
