Damle posted a video on Facebook today to inform fans about his condition. "After a show in Pimpri Chinchwad [near Pune], I started feeling feverish. After returning to Mumbai, I got tested for COVID-19. Following the test, the doctor asked me to stay in isolation for seven days," he said.

Damle assured his followers and friends that the cast and crew of the show were fine.

The actor also said he wouldn’t attend the next two performances of his play Eka Lagnachi Pudhchi Goshta, which are to be staged in different auditoria in Mumbai.

Damle had recently requested the authorities to reduce auditorium charges and even inspected playhouses in different cities.

Eka Lagnachi Pudhchi Goshta, which features Kavita Lad, was staged in three theatres in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad on 12 and 13 December. These were the first post-lockdown commercial performances in Maharashtra.

The plays received overwhelming response, running to packed houses (within the government-mandated 50% limit). Recently, as a promotional activity, the actor manned the ticket counter of an auditorium for one of the plays.
