Shakeela song 'Tera Ishq Satave': Richa Chadha does a sensuous turn in this formulaic number

Shakeela is a biopic of a film actress from the South and so it is not surprising to see a sensuous song-and-dance number, sometimes referred to crassly by industry insiders and critics as an 'item song'. Now, if only the song had been good.
Composers Meet Bros have used formulaic contemporary Punjabi pop music which doesn't go well with the era the film is set in. Also, the music is quite substandard and doesn't have the oomph factor such songs generally require to make an immediate impact on the listener. This is a run-of-the-mill 'item song' with all the focus on Chadha, who does look glamorous.
The song has been sung by Khushboo Grewal with Meet Bros. Grewal has done most of the singing here with the brothers playing second fiddle. She tries her best to make up for the lacklustre music with her punchy vocals. Lyricist Kumaar has also used a lot of Punjabi words in the song, though Shakeela never featured in Punjabi films, or even Hindi for that matter.
Shakeela is presented and produced by Sammys Magic Cinema Motion Picture Production and distributed by UFO Moviez. Directed by Indrajit Lankesh, the film is slated to be released in theatres on Christmas Day in five languages.
