Arya celebrates birthday on sets of upcoming film Sarpatta Parambarai 

Actor Arya on Friday celebrated his 40^th birthday on the sets of his upcoming Tamil film Sarpatta Parambarai. The film, which is being directed by Pa Ranjith, sees Arya play the role of a boxer from North Chennai in the 1990s.

Pictures from the birthday celebration, which have surfaced online, have gone viral. The team got a special cake for the actor with a picture of his character from the movie on it.

The makers recently revealed the first look poster of the movie. It featured beefed-up Arya in a boxing ring with people cheering him on in the background. The project marks the maiden collaboration between Arya and Pa Ranjith, who is best known for films such as Madras (2014), Kabali (2016) and Kaala (2018).

Amid rumours that the film could be the remake of Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz (2018), which was about caste politics and a boxer from a backward community, a source close to Ranjith clarified that it is an original script.

Arya has worked out intensely to develop his physique for the role. Not long ago, he teased fans with his workout routine from the shoot on Twitter. In a video, he made doing a 150-kg squat look like a cakewalk.
