The controversy over the choice of president of the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM), an organization for Marathi film artistes, has come to an end. Meghraj Rajebhosale has once again received the vote to continue as president of the ABMCM.

Earlier, a no-confidence motion was tabled against Rajebhosale at the body’s executive meeting held in Kolhapur on 26 November. During the meeting, eight of the 13 directors had voted against Rajebhosale continuing as the president.

Thereafter, vice-president Dhanaji Yamkar was made the interim president. At that time, the body’s general secretary, actor Sushant Shelar, had announced that the new president would be chosen at the next meeting.

During the next meeting, which took place on Wednesday 9 December, Shelar and Nikita Moghe supported Rajebhosale, nullifying the no-confidence motion against him and allowing him to be re-elected president.
