Confusion, hijinks and a marriage that might just bring everything to a head. These elements seem to dominate Triples.
Directed by Charukesh Sekar, and backed by Karthik Subbaraj, the series revolves around three friends, Ram (Jai), Cheenu (Vivek Prasanna) and Madhu (Rajkumar). Ram is happily on his way to marry the girl of his dreams (Vani Bhojan) but a misadventure lands him on the wrong side of loan sharks. Lying, conning and a hilarious comedy of errors ensue.
The sense of humour does have a nostalgic quality. The names Madhu and Cheenu, for instance, date back to the comic works of the late Crazy Mohan. The bigger question is whether the writer Balaji Jayaraman's work maintains the tempo throughout its eight-episode run. Jai looks on point as the protagonist, but it is Vivek Prasanna and Rajkumar who might have to do the heavy lifting with the comedy. trailer.
Triples will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar from 11 December.
