Lalbagh to have its world premiere at South Asian International Film Festival

Starring Mamta Mohandas, Rahul Dev Shetty, Rahul Madhav and Sijoy Varghese, the film has been directed by Prasanth Murali.

The South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) will be held online from 16 to 20 December because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

The Malayalam feature Lalbagh will have its world premiere at the festival where it is the opening film. Starring Mamta Mohandas, Rahul Dev Shetty, Rahul Madhav and Sijoy Varghese, the film has been directed by Prasanth Murali. 

According to official synopsis of the film, which is set in Bengaluru, Lalbagh talks about "various issues in an urban lifestyle, family matters, work stress, mood disorders and more. Above all, what women really want".

The Hindi movie Bansuri and the short film Kuch Kuch Hoti Hai will also be having its world premiere at the festival. Bansuri stars Anurag Kashyap, Masood Akhtar, Rituparna Sengupta and Upendra Limaye. It tells the story of an eight-year-old who struggles to be like his father. 

Chote Nawab, a Hindi feature film directed by Kumud Chaudhary, is the closing night film. Starring Plabita Borthakur [known for Lipstick Under My Burkha] and Svar Kamble, it tells the story of a 13-year-old boy born and brought up in the UK, who visits his ancestral house in Lucknow.
