Filmmaker Raja Chanda began shooting for his upcoming film Magic today and released the first look poster as well. The poster raises intrigue in the story whether the film is more than a romantic drama. Featuring protagonists Ankush Hazra and Oindrila Sen, the poster almost literally translates the theme of the film into an act of magic.
Chanda’s film will star real-life couple Hazra and Sen in a feature film for the first time. Sen, with a long television career, will be making her debut in the film, playing Hazra’s love interest.
The poster, with the backdrop of a dark room filled with vintage furniture, features Hazra posing as a magician, but in normal attire. Before him, Sen's body is suspended in the air. Hazra’s posture indicates as if he has done a magic trick on his love interest, while the latter is hardly aware of it. Besides Hazra in the room, there is a skeleton that adds to the visual’s eerie ambience.
Beyond literal significance, Hazra’s posture may imply that he is the centre of all the drama that takes place in the narrative, with the entry of Sen in his life. The magical factor of the plot has been kept secret by the director, and hence, the poster generates even more anticipation regarding the context and the mood of the film.
Magic also features Paayel Sarkar, Paean Sarkar, Debshankar Halder and Bidipta Chakraborty in crucial roles.
