Shiv Sena politician and Maharashtra minister for environment and tourism Aaditya Thackeray has lashed out at the opposition for allegedly playing a game of dirty politics over the death by suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and linking him to the case.
In a statement posted on Twitter, Thackeray said, “All those who are envious of the Maharashtra government’s success and popularity have started playing a dirty game of politics over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. There’s mud-slinging going on against me and the Thackeray family. Taking advantage of somebody’s death is an insult to humanity. I don’t have even an iota of involvement in this entire matter.”

Thackeray admitted he had a lot of friends in the film industry. “But that is not a crime. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is sad and shocking. Investigations are going on in that matter by the Maharashtra police, whose reputation is known all over the world. But those who have no trust in the law are creating havoc through allegations to hamper the investigation,” he said.
Thackeray added that no one should forget the legacy he belongs to. “I am the grandson of Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray. I will never do anything that will give my family a bad name. Those making silly allegations should remember this. If anyone has some special info in the case, they should hand it over to the police,” he added.
Rajput ended his life by hanging himself at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on 14 June. Just last week, the late actor's father, KK Singh, lodged a first information report (FIR) with the Bihar police against actress Rhea Chakraborty, his girlfriend, and her kin.
The actor's death continues to be the subject of intense speculation in the print and electronic media.
