The makers of the upcoming Tamil film Master (2020), starring Vijay, unveiled a new poster on Tuesday on the occasion of Malavika Mohanan’s 27th birthday. The actress, who was last seen in Rajinikanth’s Petta (2019) as his sister, plays the leading lady in Master.
The new poster features Vijay and Malavika sharing a lighter moment, in what appears to be a library. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Vijay in the role of a college professor. Actor Vijay Sethupathi will be seen playing the antagonist.
Recently, the film’s producer Xavier Britto clarified that the film is not heading for a direct OTT release. In his latest interview to Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, Britto said, "Master will only release in cinemas and we are ready to wait for everything to return to normal. We are eyeing Diwali 2020 or Pongal 2021 release but a final call can only be taken depending on the coronavirus pandemic situation.”
Reports had emerged that Master was offered a Rs125 crore deal by Amazon Prime, but this report was eventually put to rest by the film’s executive producer Lalit Kumar.
Master could be the first Tamil film to be released once theatres reopen. As of now, the makers are looking at releasing the film this Diwali or during Pongal next year.
