The first song from the upcoming film, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020), is dedicated to the daughters of India, as well as the women in the Indian armed forces, especially the pioneering Saxena.
The mellifluous voice of Arijit Singh was made for inspirational tracks such as this one. The singer begins the song on a softer note, before raising the stakes as ‘Bharat Ki Beti’ begins to take shape. Amit Trivedi’s composition too, hits all the emotional notes as the melody and lyrics entwine for a powerful message.
Kausar Munir’s lyrics echo the journey of Saxena, as she first aspires and then achieves her dream to become an Air Force officer. However, for a song featured on Saxena, it would have been much more appropriate to have a female singer take on this anthem.
Janhvi Kapoor as Saxena is seen going through the different stages of an officer’s life – from her training to her eventual selection, with her father’s (Pankaj Tripathi) encouragement at every stage.
The film, written and directed by Sharan Sharma, will be streaming on Netflix on 12 August.
