My role in Abhay 2 is dark, edgy and unpredictable, says Asheema Vardaan

The actress plays one of the villains in the remaining episodes of the Zee5 crime web-series.

Asheema Vardaan, who was previously seen as Devika in the ALTBalaji series Dev DD, has an exciting new role as one of the villains in Zee5’s Abhay 2 (2020) starring Kunal Kemmu. The remaining episodes of the series will be released on 4 September.

The actress shared some details about her role. “I'm playing one of the villains who is schizophrenic,” Vardaan said. “She will not come across as a deviant person at all, in fact you may feel bad for her situation. It was quite challenging initially when I got the script and was told that this is the part. So I had no idea about it.”

“Luckily, I'm working with director Ken Ghosh for the second time. I did Dev DD for ALTBalaji with him,” she continued. “So it was easier to work with him and he was very clear in his mind. The challenging part was the mindset of the character because she had multiple personality disorder. So to create that and show it was difficult. Then we figured it out with a few workshops."

Vardaan said she was initially nervous before shooting, but that soon changed to excitement. “While shooting I got really pumped up because it’s dark, edgy, unpredictable, and [a] little in the psycho zone. I don't know how people will react to me because they have never seen me in such a role. I have always played bubbly, bindaas and badass girls. So this is completely very different, I'm genuinely nervous now,” she revealed.

Her co-star Kemmu was great on set. “[Kemmu] is very sweet, down-to-earth and genuine. He is very smart and intelligent in that way he knows his thing. He is truly a one-take artiste. He is very helpful and supportive,” she said.
