Actress Madhurima Roy, who was last seen in the Zee5 series Mafia, is taking on a new part for her next series, Mumbhai, which has her essaying the role of a bar dancer.
The actress has previously appeared in Hotstar’s Criminal Justice, the third season of Netflix’s Little Things, the second season of Inside Edge and the first season of Four More Shots Please! for Amazon Prime. Roy was also seen in the films Judgementall Hai Kya (2019) and The Zoya Factor (2019).
For her role on Mumbhai, the actress shared, “I've had the opportunity of playing many versatile characters in all of my projects so far, and this is yet another one. I'm playing a bar dancer, very crucial to the context of the story. She's forthright, knows what she wants and wouldn't let any stone unturned. Very different from all the roles I've played so far, definitely something very challenging.”
The crime drama Mumbhai, which is set in the late 1990s to early 2000s, tackles the story of the Mumbai underworld. It is a story about the loyalty and friendship between a police officer, played by Angad Bedi, and an underworld don, played by Sikandar Kher.
“It's been an exciting shoot so far, hope the audiences appreciate the show and enjoy this crime drama,” Roy said of her experiences on set. “Right from the reading sessions to the onset of the shoot, I had a very comfortable rapport with my co-actors. Angad and I got along very comfortably and have had a very good rapport."
Produced by Balaji Telefilms, Mumbhai also stars Sandeepa Dhar and Sunny Hinduja. It will air on both Zee5 and ALT Balaji.
