Hollywood actor Chadwick Boseman dies of cancer at 43


The Black Panther (2018) actor was suffering from stage four colon cancer.

Hollywood star Chadwick Boseman died of cancer on Friday 28 August. The 43-year-old actor had been diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” Boseman's family said in a statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

“He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side,” the statement revealed.

Boseman, most famously known for his role of T'Challa, king of Wakanda, brought the first Black Marvel superhero to life in Black Panther (2018) and reprised the role two Avengers movies. Before he was cast as the Black Panther, Boseman’s first broke through with his portrayals of legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013) and singer James Brown in Get On Up (2014).

His most recent film appearance was in director Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods (2020), which released on Netflix in June. He was slated to star in Black Panther sequel due to be released in 6 May 2022.
