Neena Gupta counters ageism with spunk in 'Aunty Kisko Bola Be' song from Netflix's Masaba Masaba

Known for being fierce and fun in equal measure, actress Neena Gupta is all set to feature in a Netflix series with her daughter, fashion designer Masaba Gupta. The semi-fictional show, Masaba Masaba is loosely based on the mother-daughter duo, both of whom have made their mark in the film and fashion industry, respectively.

The actress shared a song, 'Aunty Kisko Bola Be' on Instagram in an effort to build up anticipation for the show and its content. 

In the catchy number, the actress objects to the use of the word ‘aunty,’ as a taunt. The song features Gupta countering the ageist phrase by Mithila Palkar as she pointedly denounces the commonly held notions of an ‘aunty’. 

From sarees to breezy shorts, Gupta carries off all the outfits with aplomb and a bindass attitude, as the song highlights that age is just a number and despite the wrinkles, older women are young at heart. She even matches Palkar’s dance moves, with gusto and a devil-may-care attitude.

The show premieres on Netflix on 28 August.
