Actor Saif Ali Khan, who turned 50 this month, is penning down his thoughts on his life and his acting career for an untitled autobiography by HarperCollins India, which will be published in October 2021.
Like younger sister Soha Ali Khan, who turned author with her own candid autobiography three years ago, the second-generation actor (their mother is the 1960s star Sharmila Tagore) will talk about his successes and failures in the upcoming book.
“So many things have changed and will be lost with time if we don’t record them,” Saif Ali Khan said in a report in The Times of India newspaper. “It would be nice to look back, to remember and to record. It has been funny and moving, and I must say this is quite a selfish endeavour. I do hope others enjoy the book, too, of course!”
The book’s commissioning editor, Bushra Ahmed, said Khan’s autobiography would be “reflective, cheeky and fun”.
“In today’s age, Khan is one of those rare stars, reticent, well-read and erudite; perhaps the last of his tribe,” Bushra said. “I have always loved watching his movies and his interviews are such a treasure trove of reflection on life and living. I am absolutely thrilled that his debut book has come to HarperCollins."
Earlier this month, Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, announced that they were welcoming their second child. The couple are already parents to three-year-old Taimur. Saif Ali Khan has two children, Sara and Ibrahim, from first wife Amrita Singh.
Besides fatherhood and writing, the actor has the films Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Bhoot Police as well as an Amazon Prime web-series due for release within the next year.
