The second season of Amazon Prime Video's original web-series, Mirzapur (2018), will arrive on the streaming platform on 23 October with a stellar cast and a new world of crime and lawlessness from India's hinterland.
The makers revealed the release date through a teaser, which hints at a bigger and better season.
The first season, which was released in 2018, earned rave reviews for the ingenuity of its content, well-etched characters and striking performances by the lead artistes.
The teaser promises to tell the story of the survivors. A voiceover proclaims that there are two types of humans — alive and dead. Then it talks about a third category, the survivors. Leaving them alive is the biggest mistake, as they live only for vengeance.
The teaser comes with the tagline, “They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Mirzapur is a dream, and it shall come true.”
It is apparent that the makers have targeted Mirzapur's loyal fans with this video so as to generate intrigue about the characters they have already lived with in the first season.
The second season of the show, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and Mihir Desai, features Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, Amit Sial, Anjum Sharma, Sheeba Chaddha, Manu Rishi Chadha and Rajesh Tailang.
The series is produced by Excel Entertainment. Vijay Varma, Priyanshu Painyuli and Isha Talwar will be joining the cast this time around. Watch the teaser.
