Hindi screen legend Dilip Kumar’s brother Aslam Khan died of complications from COVID-19 this morning. The 88-year-old and his brother Ehsan Khan had tested positive on Saturday 15 August and were admitted in Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital.

News of Aslam Khan's death was shared by Faisal Farooqui, who handles Dilip Kumar’s Twitter account. “Dilip Kumar Saab’s youngest brother, Aslam Khan, passed away this morning at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. We are from God and to Him we return (sic),” Farooqui posted from his own Twitter handle. The post was retweeted by Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle.

The hospital said in a statement, 'Aslam Khan, younger brother of Dilip Kumar, passed away early morning in Lilavati hospital under Dr Jalil Parkar due to COVID-19 with diabetes, hypertension and ischaemic heart disease.'

Both Aslam and Ehsan Khan were rushed to the hospital on Saturday after complaining of breathlessness. Both were kept on artificial breathing support as their oxygen saturation level had dropped below 80%. The doctors were being extra cautious given their age and pre-existing health issues like diabetes and hypertension.
