Bebaakee trailer: Best friends become enemies in this love triangle set in Gulmarg 

The concept of love triangles has slowly become a thing of the past in Hindi cinema. But Zee5 and ALTBalaji are trying to revive the genre in their Hindi web-series Bebaakee (2020), which stars Kushal Tandon, Shiv Jyoti Rajput, and Karan Jotwani. 

Going by the trailer, Bebaakee takes place in the stunning locales of Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir. Just like their fathers, Sufiyaan (Tandon) and Imtiaz (Jotwani) are the best of friends. Kainaat Sahni (Rajput) enters Sufiyaan’s life and they instantly dislike each other. But slowly Sufiyaan's feelings towards her change.  

Meanwhile, Imtiaz too enters Kainaat’s life. Suchitra Pillai's character wants to break Sufiyaan and Imtiaz's friendship for some vested interest. She ensures that Kainaat’s marriage is fixed with Imtiaz, thus turning best friends into foes.  

The problem with the web-series is that the story seems outdated, especially the idea of an evil vamp conspiring against people she hates. Also the treatment is more like a daily soap, where massive confusion takes place before big events like weddings.  

Here’s hoping that the series turns out to be better than the trailer. However, the lead cast of Tandon, Rajput and Jotwani seem promising.

Bebaakee will start streaming on ALTBalaji from 30 August.
