Aashram trailer: Bobby Deol's Baba Nirala Kashipurwala is hiding a murky secret

In his second digital outing, Aashram (2020), actor Bobby Deol plays an enigmatic guru, Baba Nirala Kashipurwala, who promises salvation to his followers. 

However, the popular Baba is also hiding a murky secret. Several young women have gone missing over the years and when a human skeleton is unearthed on their property, the focus returns to the aashram and its goings-on. As the police get involved, the aashram's real face may be revealed, but will it be in time to save its current victims? 

The MX Player series, produced and directed by Prakash Jha, is set in the fictional city of Kashipur, where the Baba has his stronghold. However, with the disappearance of the young women, the aashram gets unwanted attention when a policeman played by Darshan Kumaar begins to investigate. 

The web-series, which is due to be streamed from 28 August, also stars a large ensemble cast that includes Aaditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy Sanyal,  Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman and Tridha Choudhury. However, the trailer's focus seems to be largely on Deol and the cult following his character enjoys.
