Actress Manali Manisha Dey and filmmaker Abhimanyu Mukherjee wed in a registry marriage in the company of their family members and close friends on Saturday 15 August.

The couple began dating after their first venture together, the Zee Bangla original film Nimki Phulki in 2017. While shooting for the second part of Nimki Phulki, they decided to get hitched.

The actress shared their photo with the caption ‘Registered’ on her social media handles yesterday. The couple was dressed in casual attire.

According to a report by abplive.com, the ceremonial marriage was scheduled in July, but the pandemic situation made them reconsider the decision.

“Abhimanyu’s entire family is stuck in Mumbai in the lockdown," Dey shared. "And my family also maintains that the Bengali month of Bhadra is inauspicious for marriage. Hence, we only decided to complete the registry part in the company of friends and family. Now, we both are in our respective houses. I will go to my in-laws after Abhimanyu’s mother arrives."

The couple, though, never really wished for a ritualistic marriage. However, Dey wants to be well-dressed the day she goes to her in-laws.

Dey further stated that her new husband is a good friend first. “We are such good friends that we hardly consider ourselves lovers. I am yet to believe that we have got done with the legal part. I want him to remain my friend forever. When we get too involved in social validation, troubles arise. Nobody understands us better than friends," she said.

The actress was previously married to vocalist Saptak Bhattacharjee. However, the couple got divorced in 2016 after three years of marriage.
