In the latest development in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) met the actor’s family members yesterday.
Reports said a CBI team met the family at an undisclosed location and the meeting lasted four hours.
Sleuths from the central government's investigating agency had met Rajput’s father and sister last week.
The Centre has already given its nod to a recommendation by the Bihar government to handing the case over to the CBI. The agency is now waiting for the Supreme Court’s go-ahead to take up the matter.
The court is hearing actress Rhea Chakraborty’s plea to transfer the case lodged by Rajput's family with the Patna police to Mumbai.
Chakraborty, who was Rajput’s girlfriend, has been accused by the late actor’s father KK Singh of abetment of suicide and financial fraud.
Rajput died by suicide at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on 14 June. He was found hanging in the house.
In the past few days, quite a few Hindi film celebrities have demanded a CBI inquiry into the case. Among them are Varun Dhawan, Sanjana Sanghi [Rajput’s co-star in his last film from Dil Bechara (2020)], Kangana Ranaut, Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra and Ankita Lokhande, Rajput's ex-girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti has posted a video from the actor’s prayer meeting held at his Patna residence a few hours ago. The video shows the actor’s family members chanting mantras together. Earlier this week, Shweta Singh had urged the CBI to take up her brother's case.
