Dutt, who was recently diagnosed with stage three lung cancer, will be taking a break from work to travel to the US for treatment. His wife, Manyata Dutt, issued a statement on Wednesday, expressing confidence that this too would pass.
“I thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju’s speedy recovery. We need all the strength and prayers to overcome this phase. There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass,” she said, urging fans and well-wishers to not believe unwarranted rumours.
On the career front, Dutt will next be seen in Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2 with Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is set to be released online on the Disney+ Hotstar platform on 28 August.
The actor was also gearing up for the release of the Kannada film K.G.F: Chapter 2 in October this year. Dutt's character Adheera, plays the antagonist in the film.
The makers had unveiled Adheera's first glimpse with a special poster on Dutt's 61st birthday in July. The actor still has about a week's shoot left on the film, which is being directed by Prashant Neel.
The film’s executive producer Karthik Gowda has said in an interview to the daily, The Times of India that Dutt will come back after his treatment and finish shooting for the remainder of his portion.
