Nani's V likely to be first mainstream Telugu film to head for a digital release

The action thriller, directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti, is reported to have been acquired by Amazon Prime for Rs33 crore. 

Actor Nani’s upcoming action thriller, V (2020) is likely to become the first mainstream star-studded Telugu film to be released digitally. According to a report by online newspaper Telugu 360, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights of the film for Rs33 crore. The film will arrive on the digital platform on 5 September. However, an official announcement is yet to be made. 

V, which is the third film that Nani and filmmaker Mohana Krishna Indraganti have collaborated on, also stars Sudheer Babu, Nivetha Thomas and Aditi Rao Hydari in key roles. The actor plays the antagonist in the film.

When the makers announced that Nani would play a negative role in V, the actor had posted a comment on his Twitter handle, which said, “He introduced me as a Hero in my 1st film. Today he is all set to introduce me again in my 25th film. But, this time it’s different. Your friendly neighborhood badass joins the party."

Nani was last seen on screen in crime comedy Gang Leader (2020). The film, directed by Vikram Kumar, saw him share screen space with Lakshmi, Saranya Ponvannan and Priyanka Arulmohan.

The actor is currently shooting for Shiva Nirvana’s Tuck Jagadish (2020). The shoot of the project had been stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film, produced by Sahu Garapati and Harish Peddi, also stars Aishwarya Rajesh and Ritu Varma.

Nani also has a project titled Shyam Singha Roy (2020) in the pipeline. The film will be directed by Rahul Sankrityan, who had earlier directed Taxiwaala (2018). The film will feature three heroines and Sai Pallavi has been confirmed as one of them. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to confirmed.
