Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad in a critical condition on Tuesday. According to reports, Kamat had suffered from liver cirrhosis in the past, which has now relapsed. Since his condition worsened, he was rushed to a hospital.
Kamat made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Dombivali Fast (2005). The film won the National award for Best Marathi Film. He later went on to direct many successful films such Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008), Lai Bhaari (2014), Drishyam (2015) and Rocky Handsome (2016).
Though primarily a director, Kamat has also acted in a few films like Saatchya Aat Gharat (2004) and Rocky Handsome, which he directed. He has also acted in Fugay (2017), Julie 2 (2017) and Vikramaditya Motwani's Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018).
Kamat was working on his next, Darbadar, which is expected to release in 2022.
