The short film Level 13 will be released online on YouTube and Disney+ Hotstar from 11 August. The award-winning short film, directed by Samir Tewari, stars Annup Sonii, Sandhya Mridul, Rajeev Paul and Swati Semwal.
Level 13 is about an self-centered, opportunistic husband (Sonii) who forcefully brings his wife (Mridul) to an office party where he finds that his boss’s wife is his ex-girlfriend, who he had badly dumped during college. It was nominated for the Filmfare Short Film awards earlier this year.
Talking about his experience of working on the short, Sonii said, "What attracted me towards Level 13 was its story - it was simple, yet intense and funny in an uncanny way. It was great working with Sandhya. She is full of life and full of energy all the time. I always look forward to working with her. It was an amazing experience with other co-stars too."
Mridul, who plays Sonii's wife, added it was fun to play this role. She reunited with Sonii after 21 years for this project.
"She is someone whose only escape in life is her phone," she said. "I see people like that all the time. It's sad, but it's the sign of our times that nobody looks up anymore. I have always wondered what it would be like to play someone like that and put myself in that situation."
The film, produced by KARA Studios and Working I Films, will be available on The Short Cuts YouTube channel.
