Well-known film producer Karim Morani is the latest from the Hindi film industry to test positive for COVID-19 (novel coronavirus disease). His daughters, Shaza and Zoa, had tested positive earlier in the week. Morani is undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati hospital.
The news was shared by his brother Mohammed Morani to the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency. “Karimbhai has tested positive," Mohammed Morani said. "The results came this [Wednesday] morning. He will be in Nanavati for treatment. His wife and other staff from the house have tested negative.”
Karim Morani has produced a string of successful films like Arjun (1985), Vardi (1989), Damini (1993), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ra.One (2011), Chennai Express (2013), Happy New Year (2014) and Dilwale (2015). He is a close friend of actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Speaking about the condition of Karim Morani’s daughters, Mohammed Morani told PTI, “Both Shaza and Zoa are doing fine. Shaza will undergo two tests again.” Zoa had returned from Rajasthan around mid-March while Shaza returned from Sri Lanka in the first week of March.
Zoa has acted in films like VIP: 13824 (2006), Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011) and Bhaag Johnny (2015). She is undergoing treatment at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital while Shaza is at Nanavati hospital.
Yesterday Zoa shared a note on Twitter which said, "My father, sister and I have been tested COVID-19 positive. Papa and Shaza have no symptoms, I have a few. Will be sharing the experience soon so that others get an idea and I can be of some help. It feels like a flu with a bit of uneasiness. [It’s] very bearable if one rests it out. Pranayam and hot water have been helping a lot. Will share in detail soon. Thank you for all the wishes.”
