Ronny Sen's Cat Sticks to be streamed on MUBI from 12 April

Ronny Sen’s Cat Sticks, the only Indian production to have been screened at the Slamdance Film Festival last year, will be streamed on the online platform MUBI from 12 April. The film was premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival last year.

An experimental take on drug addiction, Ronny Sen’s film features Tanmay Dhanania, Sumeet Thakur, Joyraj Bhattacharjee, Rahul Dutta, Saurabh Saraswat, Sreejita Mitra, Raja Chakravorty and Kalpan Mitra in crucial roles. The black-and-white film also reveals an unexplored image of Kolkata.

“MUBI is one of the most prestigious platforms that exist today for cinema,” said writer-director Sen. “As a streaming platform, its model is also quite unique. It is nicely curated where every film has a life. I am glad Cat Sticks is part of a MUBI special called New Voices. I am personally happy because it’s a great place to be and finally people will be able to see the film.”

The film has garnered appreciation for its cinematography and for the spontaneous performances by all the artistes. According to Sen, the film incorporates real-life stories, including some from his own experiences. However, the film largely delves into the power of addiction rather than just drug addiction.
