The coronavirus pandemic has hit many people financially. A lot of people from the film industry have come forward to lend a helping hand to those who have become victims of the countrywide lockdown imposed to curb the spread of the disease. This includes filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala.
Nadiadwala has made financial donations through Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Nadiadwala Grandson Foundation to the PM CARES Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Maharashtra. Now, he has also ensured that people working in his organization do the same.
Speaking about his initiative, an official note from Nadiadwala's publicist said, “Sajid Nadiadwala also wanted the family of over 400 employees, including those earning daily wages, to do their bit in these trying times. Hence, the producer announced a bonus for each of his employees, to strengthen their hands, so that they, too, can contribute.”
The note said every employee had reciprocated positively. “Empowering them with assistance to mark their donations, each and every employee of NGE, working at various levels, has pledged to donate to the PM CARES Fund and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” added the statement.
Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, who have worked in several Nadiadwala films, have also done their bit to reduce the pain of those affected by the lockdown. While Khan has pledged to provide financial aid to 25,000 cine workers, Akshay Kumar has donated Rs25 crore to the PM CARES Fund.
