The lockdown imposed in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic has brought with it a sense of uncertainty and anxiety. To lift the spirits of fellow-citizens, a large number of Hindi film stars have come together and shot a song, from the confines of their home, with the intent to deliver a message of hope.
Titled ‘Muskurayega India,’ the song features actors like Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Rajkummar Rao, Kartik Aaryan, Tiger Shroff, Bhumi Pednekar, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Pandey, Rakul Preet Singh, Taapsee Pannu and Jackky Bhagnani, along with cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and radio jockey Malishka Mendonca.
Kaushal Kishore’s lyrics aptly capture the current situation of the lockdown, with hope that normalcy will be restored soon. Although, going by the current situation, the lockdown seems to be far from over.
As composer and singer, Vishal Mishra has done a decent job. But it is awkward to see actresses lip-syncing to a male voice.
We are told at the end of the music video, that the revenues earned from this initiative will be directed towards the chief minister’s relief fund and the PM Cares Fund.
