Singer Kanika Kapoor had tested positive for coronavirus last month, after which she was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow. Sunsequently, she then tested positive five times in the following days. But now she has finally tested negative twice in a row because of which she was discharged from the PGI hospital in Lucknow today.
The singer contacted the COVID-19 virus after she returned from her trip to London last month. She started exhibiting the symptoms for the virus 10 days after her return.
A First Information Report [FIR] was soon lodged against Kapoor by the Lucknow chief medical officer, for her alleged negligence, which could have aided the spread of coronavirus.
The singer was booked under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sarojini Nagar police station. Kapoor, however, has squashed all allegations.
The singer was also accused by several journalists of being negligent. As per their reports, Kapoor didn’t quarantine herself after returning from London. Following her return to India, she also attended three high-profile events, which were attended by VIPs, including known politicians like Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant Singh.
