Richa Chadha is giving her fans a reason to laugh, thanks to a new parody series on Instagram, in which she features as a quirky reporter, Quarantina of WTF News. The actress's online character highlights strange news from the world impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The actress stated, “In the first week of the lockdown, I myself was getting depressed looking at the death toll of this lethal virus, and those that are suffering because of the lockdown. It was giving me anxiety. So I decided to do something about it."

"While my donations for the underprivileged are ongoing, I wanted to create something that would make people smile," she continued. "Worrying about what’s in the store could push us into a dark space. I am not making fun of the disease and its impact, simply trying to highlight that even in these conditions, sometimes there’s bizarre news that can make you chuckle despite yourself. For reality and truth, there’s the news, but I wanted to make satire which would lift our collective spirits in these times."

Chadha first debuted the character on 27 March, as part of the apocalyptic broadcast news series, where she discussed fake news about sexual orgies in Belgium.

She later moved on to discuss Tik Tok personality Larz, who licked a public toilet seat as part of an online challenge. The social media influencer has now tested positive for coronavirus.
