Irrfan Khan admitted to ICU as health deteriorates

Actor Irrfan Khan has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in the suburbs of Mumbai. Reports state that he was rushed to the hospital as his condition started deteriorating suddenly. 

The actor's publicist confirmed the news and issued an official statement, which said, "Yes it is true that Irrfan Khan is admitted to ICU at Kokilaben in Mumbai because of a colon infection. We will keep everyone updated. He is under doctor’s observation. His strength and courage have helped him battle and fight so far, and we are sure with his tremendous willpower, and prayers of all his well wishers, he will recover soon.”

The hospital, where he has been admitted, is working with bare minimum staff currently because of the lockdown, so nobody was available to answer our repeated calls. 

However, celebrity hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani has indirectly confirmed the news. Just few minutes back, she tweeted, “Sending you so much love Irrfan Khan. Get well soon. You are missed!” 

A few days ago, Khan lost his mother Saeeda Begum, who breathed her last in Jaipur. But unfortunately, the actor was not able to pay his last respects because of the lockdown. 

Khan’s health woes started in 2018, when he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer. He was able to recover the following year when he shot his last film Angrezi Medium (2020).
