Mastram is the story of a struggling writer who turns to adult fiction after facing rejection. At the start of the trailer, we see a struggling writer Rajaram, played by Anshuman Jha, going to a publisher with his new novel, Devika Ki Vyatha, only to be coldly rejected. The publisher tells him that he is trying to sell Rajendra Kumar in the era of Amitabh Bachchan and asks him to write something that will excite the readers.
Rajaram starts writing adult stories, and slowly teenagers as well as older men get addicted to his books. But there is a twist. Rajaram's love interest (Tara Alisha Berry) despises such stories. Will he reveal his true identity to her?
Mastram is set in the 1980s, but the production design doesn't feel authentic to that period.
The trailer has enough titillating visuals to give you an idea about the show's adult content. At least from the trailer, it looks like Mastram will feature some nude scenes.
For the first time in India, an intimacy coordinator, Amanda Cutting, has been hired because of the intimate scenes in the web-series.
The 10 episode web-series will start streaming on the OTT platform MX Player from 30 April 2020.
