Actor Varun Dhawan marked his 33rd birthday on Friday with a donation to feed five lakh daily-wage workers, out of work in the film industry. The continuing countrywide lockdown has seen many of the daily-wage labourers in the industry put out of work and into economic crisis.
Several celebrities from Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar to Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan have made key contributions for these workers.
Dhawan's donation went to the workers registered with the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE).
