Remixes and recreations are in vogue today. But here is one recreation of a recent song that tries to make a difference. ‘Teri Mitti’ from the Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari (2019) succeeded in moving viewers with its patriotic flavour. Now, lyricist Manoj Muntashir has changed two verses of the song and turned it into a tribute dedicated to all those who have been working tirelessly against the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Teri Mitti – Tribute’ is also moving, because of its profound lyrics. One of the best lines in the recreated song goes, ‘Bimaar hai jo kis dharm ka hai humse na kabhi yeh bhed hua, Sarhad pe jo vardi khaki thi ab uska rang safed hua. [We don’t discriminate among patients on the basis of religion, the warriors who wore khaki on the border are now in white].
In a nutshell, Muntashir has done complete justice to his own song with the same tuneful music by Arko. B Praak has surrendered himself to the moving lyrics, just like he did in the original patriotic song.
As expected, the visuals pay tribute to the COVID-19 warriors like doctors, health workers and the authorities. But the song also tackles incidents of doctors, health-care workers and policemen being attacked in the line of duty. Watch:
