Debesh Chattopadhyay’s short film, Lockdowney Fyataru revolves around Fyatarus, who are fictitous characters originally conceived by the late author Nabarun Bhattacharya. A Fyataru is a flying human being, who belongs to the subaltern class and resorts to anarchy to destabilize the divisive political system.

Featuring Santilal Mukherjee, Amit Saha and Saurav Palodhi in the lead, the film speaks in favour of the stranded migrant workers around the country, who are on the verge of death due to poverty and hunger because of the lockdown. Madan (Mukherjee), calls up DS (Saha) and reprimands him for taking advantage of social media platforms and spreading rumours regarding COVID-19 virus. Madan tells him that this is not the time for the Fyataru to sit quietly, but to act.

Madan calls DS and another Fyataru, called Purandar Bhat (Palodhi), who is a poet, to his terrace for a meeting. They reach the venue immediately on their wings. Bhat recites a poem and presents the crux of their motto.

Madan, soon gets an idea for their plan of action.  He tells them to gather all the Fyataru in and around Kolkata. Their mission is to take away all the surplus food that people from the privileged class have hoarded in their respective homes and distribute it among the stranded labourers.

Madan and Bhat also criticise the theatrics of banging utensils and lighting candles to applaud the doctors. In the end, all the Fyataru fly off on their wings to complete their mission.

The film utilises Bhattacharya's creation of the Fyataru in the most relevant fashion. The existence of Fyataru perhaps could have turned the helpless political scenario of the country.
