Mithun Chakraborty’s father dies in Mumbai, actor stuck in Bengaluru


Mithun Chakraborty had gone to the southern city for a film shoot and has not been able to return owing to the countrywide lockdown.

Actor Mithun Chakraborty’s father Basantakumar Chakraborty died today in Mumbai after battling age-related illnesses for some time. He was 95. Basantakumar Chakraborty is survived by his wife Santimoyee and the actor, his eldest son.

Mithun Chakraborty is stuck in Bengaluru because of the countrywide lockdown to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor landed in the city last month for a film shoot. Some reports said Chakraborty is trying to travel to Mumbai to perform his father’s last rites. Reports also suggested the actor’s eldest son Mimoh Chakraborty is in Mumbai.

Actress Rituparna Sengupta conveyed her condolences to Chakraborty on Twitter.

Mithun Chakraborty was last seen on the big screen in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s political drama The Tashkent Files (2019).
