Actor Vijay donates Rs1.30 crore for coronavirus relief efforts


The donations have been made to the PM Cares Fund and the CM relief funds of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka.

Tamil star Vijay, who was last seen on screen in Atlee Kumar's Bigil (2019), has made a donation of Rs1.30 core for coronavirus relief efforts

According to an official statatement, Vijay has donated Rs25 lakh to the PM Cares Fund, Rs50 lakh to the Tamil Nadu CM relief fund, Rs10 lakh to the Kerala CM relief fund, Rs25 lakh to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), Rs5 lakh each to the CM relief funds of Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka, and Rs5 lakh to the Pondicherry relief fund.

The statement further added that Vijay has also donated an undisclosed amount to the welfare of members of his fan clubs in Tamil Nadu.

On the career front, Vijay will be next seen in the Tamil film Master (2020), which has been directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film sees Vijay in the role of a college professor opposite Malavika Mohanan. Vijay Sethupathi will be seen playing the antagonist. The film also stars Andrea Jeremiah in a key role.

Vijay’s fans recently created and trended the keyword MasterFDFS on Twitter. Since the film didn’t release due to lockdown on April 9, fans shared their best first-day, first-show experience of watching a Vijay film with the keyword MasterFDFS.  

Meanwhile, the actor is likely team up with filmmaker Sudha Kongara for his next Tamil yet-untitled project. Talks have already been initiated.
