Director Rohit Shetty might have gained fame for his Singham (2011) franchise about the world of cops, but he also believes in giving it back in kind. The director has extended his charity to provide meals for on-duty police personnel across the city at eight hotels.
The police personnel, who are working during the current lockdown, can also rest, shower and change at these hotels.
The Mumbai police thanked the director for his contribution, which is the latest in a growing list by members of the film industry.

Shetty has been one of those directly affected by the lockdown caused by the pandemic. The director's upcoming film, Sooryavanshi (2020), was scheduled to release in March, but had to be indefinitely postponed following the directives by the central and state governments.
Since then, the lead of Shetty's film, Akshay Kumar, has stepped in making a donation of Rs25 crore to the PM Cares fund, as well as Rs3 crore to the BMC fund to set up facilities to fight the pandemic.
The lockdown, which has now been extended to 3 May, in effect lead to a shutdown of the film industry with production, shoots, and promotional meetings all put on hold. Along with Sooryavanshi, several other films have had to postpone their release dates in view of the shutdown.
