Actor-filmmaker-politician Kamal Haasan is all set to release a song of hope and positivity in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The actor revealed that he has written, sung and directed the song, 'Arivum Anbum', which will be out on Thursday.
The music video for the song, composed by Ghibran, features artistes like Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan, Anirudh Ravichander, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Devi Sri Prasad, Shankar Mahadevan, Andrea Jeremiah, Sid Sriram and Bombay Jayashri.
“Any artiste sitting idle wants to do something today," Kamal Haasan told the daily Mumbai Mirror. "I had angst and anger to vent, which led to this song.” He said music is important for mental health. “It is not just a healer, but also a teacher. It’s easy to remember. There is a reason why film songs are so popular. Chants assist our memory,” he said.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan will be seen next on screen in S Shankar’s magnum opus Indian 2 (2019). The film, which is being financed by Lyca Productions, features Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simhaa and Priya Bhavani Shankar in key roles. After wrapping up the major shooting portion in India, the team plans to travel to Taiwan to shoot key scenes.
Meanwhile, the actor also has Thalaivan Irukkindran (2020), a rumoured sequel to Thevar Magan (1992), in the pipeline. Tipped to be a political thriller, the project will also star Revathy and Vadivelu, who played important roles in Thevar Magan.
